Ykens, Frans

Biography
Flemish painter specialized in still life painting and flowers in all genres, his work is well known thanks to the fact that he signed most of his works. His flower garlands show the influence of Daniel Seghers. In them he created the floral part, leaving the central motif to other artists who collaborated with him. A painter of great receptive permeability, in his flower vases and crystal glasses, in addition to the relationship with Seghers, that of Jan Philip van Thielen is evident, while the porcelain fruit bowls show the echo of the works of his teacher Osias Beert or Jacob Hulsdonck.
