This small composition on panel, attributed to Pieter Neefs the Elder, is typical of the work of the Flemish master known for his interior views of churches.
An old archival photograph (IPCE, Archivo Ruiz Vernacci VN-24709), taken from the catalogue by Joseph Jean-Marie Lacoste Borde published in 1913, confirms the painting's presence in the José Lázaro Galdiano Collection. Another later archival photograph (IPCE, Archivo Moreno 06201) locates the painting in the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, where it was displayed in Room 22. Currently, the painting is no longer on display in the museum but remains part of its reserves (November 2024).
